ADVERTISEMENTS
My newest series explores thoughts I've had during the last few months, told through the style of vintage advertisements, an undercurrent of skepticism that isn't obvious at face value, and American foods I grew up eating while I rejected those of my own culture.
Orange America
This painting explores the false reality we are currently being sold. With its warm orange hues, appetizing comfort foods, and inexpensive advertised pricing, the painting disarms the viewer with nostalgia and distracts with the promise of good value – leaving the viewer with an active choice to make: let the lies continue (it’s really not that bad!) or be the resistance.

Better?
At first glance, the painting feels optimistic: an indulgent soft serve and syrup-glazed waffle set against a bright pink and yellow background, sealed with the validation of better days. However, when you look closer, you uncover the truths: performative positivity, superficial solutions, and the gaslighting of lived realities.
